Electronic cigarette companies claim that smoking the alternative e-cigarette is heathier not just for those smoking, but also people who do not smoke.
These electronic cigarettes do not contain tobacco and therefore do not produce deadly second hand tobacco. Companies are having difficulty delivering this message because people unfamiliar with Electronic cigarettes are confusing nicotine vapour with tobacco smoke.
Dr. Michael Siegel, a professor at Boston University School of Public Health, writes on his blog: 'From a scientific perspective, there simply is no evidence at this time that electronic cigarette use poses any significant risk to nonsmokers.'
Such smoking related products should be embraced by the government, anti-smoking groups, business and the public. The electronic cigarette may help to reduce the number of deaths every year caused by tobacco smoking to smokers and non-smokers.
