E Cigarette Rechargeable Battery Care
December 1, 2010
Taking care of your e cigarette rechargeable batteries is of paramount importance and will help maintain their functionality for much longer. Ensure your batteries are always charged to increase life expectancy. Never store electronic cigarette batteries in a fully depleted state or they will fail to recharge.
VIP Starter kits come with rechargeable Lithium-ion, Li-CoO2 specification batteries. All our electronic cigarette batteries are supplied charged and ready for use. Please DO NOT try to charge brand new batteries before using them or the built-in overcharge protection mail fail to activate and damage the cells.
Important Safety Information:
- Never leave a battery unattended while charging.
- Never re-charge batteries overnight.
- Never store, or carry batteries next to or near coins, keys, metallic objects, speakers, mobile phones or Sat Navs etc.
- Never carry a battery (without a filter) uncovered or exposed. Place the battery in static proof holder.
- Always re-charge batteries when depeleted.
- Always remove the battery from the charger once the charge cycle has completed.
- Static shocks may damage battery cells. ie) Nylon pockets.
These batteries are nominal 3.7 volts and must not be discharged below 3 volts to prevent damage. Batteries exposed to a temperature above 70c may result in battery leakage and rupture. Ideally, batteries should be stored in a cool, ventilated area away from moisture and sources of heat, preferably below 30c.
Lithium-ion batteries do not have a ‘charge memory’ and can be charged at any time during the discharge cycle without damage. There is no requirement for a longer first charge or full discharge before recharging the battery. Memory effects in other types of battery such as the problematic Ni-Cad do not apply to Lithium-ion batteries. They can be recharged at any point of the usage cycle and it is advisable to recharge them before they fully discharge to prolong their lifespan. The life expectancy of a lithium-ion battery is around 2-3 months or a maximum of 150 recharge cycles if used correctly.
Our rechargeable batteries are only designed to work with chargers and cartomizers supplied by the VIP Electronic Cigarette website. If you attempt to mod or customise your e-cigarette refill with any liquid or substance, you do so at your own risk and your Warranty will be invalidated. Never mix rechargeable batteries with disposable cigarette batteries. Do not attempt to recharge a disposable cigarette battery as this can cause serious harm and poses a significant risk of explosion.
UPDATE: We also recommend customers to keep a supply of 2-3 rechargeable batteries and not use one battery all the time. By ordering extra batteries you will be able to charge one while using the other.
